Founded in 1989, EBCD is an international environmental non governmental organization (NGO) based in Brussels, with the main objective to promote the conservation and sustainable use of natural renewable resources both in Europe and worldwide. It supports science based solutions, full stakeholder participation, due consideration for the socio-economic aspects and for cultural diversity.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF SUCCESS!

Dear colleagues, partners, stakeholders, and friends,

It is with great pleasure and a feeling of achievement that we present the first activity report on the work of the European Parliament Intergroup on “Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development”. We hope that sharing the experience of one of the most active EP Intergroups will inspire all stakeholders to continue a successful engagement in the European Parliament in the next term.

2014 EUROPEAN ELECTIONS

Before the 2014 European elections took place, analysts were predicting that euro-sceptic political forces would jeopardize the activities of the European Parliament. Three weeks have now passed since the voting weekend and European electors are still witnessing a rather unclear situation in terms of affiliation to European political groups: this is probably the first sign of pre-elections concerns. The high number of new national political parties to access the European Parliament for the first time is changing the shape and position of the existing political spectrum.

BEST Initiative: NEW WEBSITE


The new website of BEST - voluntary scheme for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in Territories of European overseas, a DG ENV-funded project which aims to support the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of ecosystem services in the EU Outermost Regions (ORs) and Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) – is now accessible here.
