Despina has been Director and founding member of EBCD since its establishment in 1989, linking the conservation and scientific communities, as well as the private sector, to EU policy-makers, and providing them with expert strategic advice. She has been active in IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) as Member of the ExCom of the Species Survival Commission, and Coordinator of the Fisheries Working Group under the European Sustainable Use Specialist Group.
Despina is the founding Member and Coordinator of the Fisheries Expert Group of the IUCN Commission of Ecosystem Management (IUCN/CEM/FEG). Prior to joining EBCD, Despina worked on fisheries-related issues in Madrid where she represented the Spanish coastal fishermen to the EU, and as freelance translator for the Secretary of State of Canada.
Paolo joined EBCD in September 2012 during a 4-month internship in the secretariat of the European Parliament Intergroup on “Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development”. He permanently joined the team in January 2013 occupying the post of European Parliament Intergroup Officer, where he is in charge of relations with the members and stakeholders of the Intergroup and of organizing events. Paolo holds a Literature High School Diploma from the “Liceo Classico Tito Livio” of Padova, a BA in International Relations from the University of Bologna, and a Master Degree in International Environmental Policy from the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Lynn started at EBCD in February 2015 as an intern and joined the team in September as European Parliament Intergroup Officer. Before joining she acquired experience through a traineeship at the European Economic and Social Committee in the Sustainable Development Observatory working on various environmental issues. Prior to this she interned at the United Nations Headquarters in New York at the Division for Sustainable Development.
Lynn holds a Bachelor degree in Environmental Studies from Södertörn University, Sweden as well as a Master in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science from Lund University, Sweden.
Konstantinos joined EBCD in October 2013 as Fisheries Policy Assistant. Before joining EBCD, he worked as an intern in the Secretariat of the Fisheries Committee of the European Parliament. Prior to that, he worked for the Permanent Representation of Greece to the EU and the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU in the Fisheries Department, working on External and Internal Fisheries Policy related issues.
Konstantinos holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Ichthyology and Aquatic Environments from the University of Thessaly, Greece and has successfully completed his Postgraduate Certificate in “Sustainable Aquaculture of Vertebrates” at the University of St. Andrews, UK.
Sandra joined EBCD in March 2014 as an intern. After three months she became Fisheries Policy Officer. Prior to this, Sandra worked as an intern in the European Commission (DG MARE) on IUU fishing. She also worked in Eurodesk Elblag (Poland) as a project assistant, in Europe Direct in A Coruña, at the Fundación Galicia-Europa, and at the permanent representation of Galicia in Brussels as junior consultant on European Union policies.
Sandra holds a bachelor degree in Law from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a Masters degree in European Union Studies from the University of A Coruña.
Panos joined EBCD in February 2017 as Administrative and Financial Officer. Before joining our team, he was working as a Finance Officer in an international NGO based in Brussels and Lisbon, Portugal. He started his career as accountant in G4S Greece where, after a few years, he was placed as Cash Reconciliation Officer in the internal audit team.
Panos holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from TEI Piraeus, Greece and a Masters’ degree in Project Management from the City University of Seattle, US.
