Agriculture Working Group
Chair: MEP Luis Manuel Capoulas Santos (Portugal, S&D, AGRI Committee)
MEP Luis Manuel Capoulas Santos is member of the AGRI Committe, coordinator for the
S&D Group in the Agriculture Committee and Vice-Chair of the Delegation
to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly. He's been State Secretary for Agriculture (1995-1998) and Minister of Agriculture and
Fisheries (1998-2002) of Portugal. He is the Rapporteur of two reports of the CAP reform proposal, on rural development and direct payments to farmers.
The "Agriculture" Working Group notably addresses the following issues:
- Food security
- Agricultural systems in Europe
- Agriculture on Developing countries
- Innovation/Biotechnologies
- Organic food
- Food safety/food quality
- Energy and biofuels
