“What is the main goal you would like to achieve as Vice-Chair of the EP Intergroup on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development?”

My main goal is to work for policies supporting sustainable development in terms of climate and environment, at the same time as creating opportunities for businesses and sustainable growth. We need to create the right frameworks and incentives, in order to make change possible.

“If you had to chose one specific issue that you think needs to be primarily tackled during this parliamentary term, what would it be? And why?”

There are several large-scale issues that will need a lot of work the upcoming term. We have major challenges ahead of us, such as the Climate Conference and the Energy Union. Obviously, many of the related issues are interlinked. We need clarity, coherence and long-sightedness when making all of these decisions. Over all, I believe the underlying and main challenge is getting all of Europe to work together and to actually engage in the transition towards more sustainable solutions and new innovations, instead of hitting the breaks and turning backwards. It is absolutely necessary for Europe to look ahead, and to do it together.
