SUMMARY:Online event: Initial relations by key stakeholders to the Farm-to-Fork & EU Biodiversity Strategies
DESCRIPTION: \n22 July 2020, 14:00 – 16:00 CEST\nHosted by MEP (tbc)\n \nOn 22 May 2020, the European Commission adopted the Biodiversity Strategy ( https://ec.europa.eu/info/sites/info/files/communication-annex-eu-biodiversity-strategy-2030_en.pdf ) and Farm to Fork Strategy ( https://ec.europa.eu/info/sites/info/files/communication-annex-farm-fork-green-deal_en.pdf ), as part of the European Green Deal ( https://eur-lex.europa.eu/resource.html?uri=cellar:b828d165-1c22-11ea-8c1f-01aa75ed71a1.0002.02/DOC_1&format=PDF ). While the EU Biodiversity Strategy focuses on the sustainable use, conservation and restoration of ecosystems with concrete steps to undertake by 2030, the Farm to Fork Strategy aims at improving the EU food system through the sustainable transformation of the EU food-supply chain, enhanced consumer information and the promotion of healthier diets.\nFollowing the release of both strategies, many organizations reacted to them welcoming or criticizing the European Commission’s communications. Among others, open questions on whether they have the right level of ambition, their practical implementation, or the resources needed to ensure they function properly are still open questions for the main actors involved. As a result, this event aims at fostering dialogue between key stakeholders impacted by the strategies, including the agricultural, fisheries & aquaculture, and forestry sectors.\nDocuments of the meeting\nFEAP – Javier Ojeda ( https://ebcd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/FEAP-Javier-Ojeda.pdf )\nEuropeche – Daniel Voces ( https://ebcd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Europeche-presentation-for-EBCD-Intergroup.pdf )\n
