SUMMARY:The Industrial Accelerator Act: Keeping Europe competitive in the global industrial race
DESCRIPTION:\n📆 Wednesday 9th September 2026, 08:00 – 09:30 CEST\n\n📍Organised at the European Parliament, Brussels (MEP salon area)\nREGISTER HERE\nThe Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA), as part of the Clean Industrial Deal, aims to expand industrial capacity, strengthen competitiveness, and support decarbonisation in strategically important sectors. The initiative seeks to position the green transition as a driver of industrial prosperity in Europe rather than deindustrialisation. Through a range of measures, the Act aims to boost demand for low-carbon industrial products made in Europe, address supply-chain vulnerabilities in key sectors and technologies, and overcome permitting and investment barriers to industrial decarbonisation. In doing so, it seeks to reinforce the EU’s industrial base, safeguard employment, enhance strategic autonomy, and support the green transition. Developed against a backdrop of intensifying global competition, geopolitical uncertainty, high energy prices, and declining industrial capacity, the Industrial Accelerator Act is of high strategic importance, while also presenting an opportunity to advance industrial decarbonisation.\nThis timely event, hosted at the European Parliament, will examine how the Industrial Accelerator Act seeks to align industrial acceleration with the green transition to support long-term prosperity in Europe. Bringing together Members of the European Parliament, the European Commission, industry associations, businesses, NGOs, civil society organisations, and relevant experts, the event aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the legislation, identify key issues and opportunities for early engagement, and generate stakeholder input to inform effective and well-grounded implementation. It will also provide a platform for exchange, bringing together a wide range of actors and fostering collaboration that advances Europe’s industrial competitiveness and sustainability.\n\nDRAFT AGENDA\n08:00 – 08:05: Welcome remarks by Ilias Grampas, Deputy Director, EBCD, Secretariat of the MEP Group on ‘Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development’\n08:05 – 08:15: Opening remarks by MEP Dimitris Tsiodras\n08:15 – 08:25: Keynote speech by Aleksandra Kordecka, Expert, Cabinet of Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné, European Commission (tbc)\n 08:25 – 09:00: Panel discussion with the participation of:\n\nCaoimhe Gavin, Competitiveness Councellor, Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU (tbc)\nPierre Tardieu, Chief Policy Officer, WindEurope\nRepresentative from Cepi (tbc)\nDaniele Olivieri, Deputy Director for Entrepreneurship & SMEs, Business Europe (tbc)\nRiccardo Nigro, Senior Policy Officer for Industrial Transition, EEB\n\n09:00 – 09:15: Reactions from additional MEPs:\n\nMEP Borys Budka (EPP, ITRE Chair) (tbc)\nMEP Anna Cavazzini (Greens/EFA, INTA Rapporteur) (tbc)\nMEP Christophe Grudler (Renew, ITRE Rapporteur) (tbc)\nMEP Pierre Jouvet (S&D, IMCO Rapporteur) (tbc)\nmore MEPs (tbc)\n\n09:15 – 09:25: Q&A session with the audience\n09:25 – 09:30: Closing remarks by MEP Dimitris Tsiodras\n \n\n
