Today, on FAO World Food Day, we’re proud to share a message from four Members of the European Parliament, who reflect on the importance of building sustainable, resilient, and fair food systems for all.
The global challenges we face, from climate change and environmental degradation to food insecurity, require more attention to the way we produce, distribute, and consume food. Within the EU, the main priorities should address the access to nutritious and quality food, fostering sustainable practices that respect biodiversity, reduce water stress and restore soil quality. Reinforcing the competitiveness of EU agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture means ensuring their potential is reached in a sustainable way, while securing and improving farmers’ and fishers’ income and generational renewal.
Watch the video to hear from MEPs Manuela Ripa, Elsi Katainen, Eric Sargiacomo, and Carmen Crespo Díaz, as they call for action and cooperation on this crucial issue. Let’s work together towards a future where no one is left behind – for people, planet, and prosperity
