24 March 2021, 16:00 – 18:00 CET
Hosted by MEP Pierre Karleskind
Chair of the Committee on Fisheries (PECH), European Parliament
In 2021, the United Nations (UN) Food Systems Summit will renew commitments for a sustainable and resilient food system that is able to tackle and adapt to current challenges. However, the role of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in such transformations remains unclear, also in view of the EU’s Farm to Fork and Biodiversity Strategies, as well as the recently launched New Consumer Agenda. In addition, as the upcoming UN Food Systems Summit will be a crucial opportunity to take stock of current practices and advance global action towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, this event aims at therefore highlighting the key role of the fisheries and aquaculture sector within the above processes.
