Online Event: Partnerships for healthy ecosystems & sustainable fisheries – Collaboration between environmental NGOs, the fishing industry and science driving sustainability
Oceans have been gaining unprecedented attention at international level: they offer an opportunity to tackle important societal challenges such as food security and climate change while the importance of marine biodiversity and ecosystem services has been increasingly recognized. However, environmental NGOs and the fishing industry often work in silos, leading to a polarization of views and poor results. This event aims to showcase that collaboration works. By presenting current schemes of cooperation, the event will outline how concrete, effective outcomes can be reached when the fishing industry and environmental NGOs join forces.
