Oceans have officially entered the climate negotiations; this became a reality at the 2021 UN Climate Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow, UK. With this recent innovation in climate diplomacy, a key question is how blue foods fit in the negotiating package, especially in the context of COP27. Aquaculture and fisheries have been so far left out of the UN climate talks; yet, they are impacted by the consequences of climate change on marine biodiversity and ocean infrastructures. At the same time, they have the potential to contribute to climate solutions by identifying and adopting a number of mitigation and adaptation options. This event aims at shedding light about what blue foods can do for the climate, if properly involved. Furthermore, it provides elements to climate negotiators and other stakeholders attending COP27 with relevant information on fisheries and aquaculture in the context of climate change.

Breakfast will be served during the event
